Savor the World!

One of our Mottos: Savor the World! Eat local delicacies while traveling.

Traveling isn't just about seeing new places; it's also about tasting the world. The culinary journey can be just as enriching as the landscapes and cultures you encounter. We sometimes find that navigating unfamiliar food can be daunting. For example – I turn to Zac and ask, “is it a good idea to eat pigeon here in Madrid?” His look – skeptical. We did it anyway, because our local tour guide suggested it! Here is how we dive into local cuisines with confidence and enjoyment!

We embrace the Local Cuisine. We always do a little research before we go and familiarize ourselves with the signature dishes of our destination. This helps us make informed choices and avoid crazy facial expressions and unpleasant culinary surprises. We also always ask the local for recommendations. They know the best spots for authentic food. Don't hesitate to ask for their favorite eateries and dishes.

We are open-minded (for the most part!). Traveling is the perfect opportunity to step out of your culinary comfort zone. Sample dishes you wouldn’t normally try at our local restaurants. While it's great to try new foods, we are always super mindful of food hygiene. Street meat always sounds like a good idea – until it isn’t! We usually opt for busy market stalls and restaurants with high turnover as that usually means fresher food.

While the name of delicacy may suggest otherwise, enjoy the experience! Slow down and savor. Take your time to enjoy the flavors and textures of your meals. Eating is about sustenance and experience!

Eating different foods while traveling is a journey. It's a chance to explore new flavors, understand different cultures, and make lasting memories. Here are some of our favorites:

Australia – Kangaroo; Africa – Kudu and Ostrich; Madrid – Pigeon; Portugal – Sardines; France – Escargot; New Orleans – Turtle Soup; Sweden – Meatballs; Scotland – Hagis; Russia – Borsch; Italy – Steal Florentine; New Zealand – Pavlova; Norway – Farikal; and so much more!

Pack your bags and your appetite and get ready to savor the world! Cheers!
