Ahoy Matey!! It’s cruisin’ season!! The time when you pack up and head to your home away from home for a bit and sail the high seas! No, not those big, loud, crazy cruises…think small ships with big benefits like attentive staff, intimate ports and local cuisine. That’s why we absolutely love Viking Cruises!
We have taken Viking Ocean Voyages through Europe - Iceland, Sweden, Norway, Poland, German, Italy, Croatia, Greece (and the list goes on and on!). The beauty of Viking is in their ships, their staff, and their cooking! We experience everything when onboard from the incredible spa to the high tea; it’s everything you want while cruising from destination to destination!
The adventure lies when you arrive in port. An excursion is included at each stop. You can choose from coach city tours or walking town tours, and each is lead by a knowledgeable local guide! You can also purchase excursions - I take at least one winery tour per trip (cheers!). Optional tours vary from driving tanks in Germany to large bird rescue sanctuaries (you can try your hand at falconry!) in Croatia. There is no shortage of history, food and wine, and adventure awaiting you!
Cruises also give you a sneak peek at countries before committing to a longer trip. We did that for Greece…while we were only in Santorini for 13 hours the first time, we spent five days on the second time around! Same for Italy…we jumped back to Rome for an extended stay a year after spending 11 hours in port on a cruise!
